The
captains of the new French nuclear holding company were named July 3 as
expected. Pascal Colombani, administrator general of the Commissariat a
l'Energie Atomique (CEA) and chairman of its subsidiary, CEA-Industrie
(CEA-I), was named chairman of the supervisory board of the new company,
provisionally dubbed Topco, at a board meeting. Anne Lauvergeon, chairman/CEO
of Cogema, was named chairman of the Topco management board. The new state-owned
company, in which CEA-I will hold 79%, will own a large majority stake
in Cogema, Framatome, and a few smaller companies in the nuclear and high-tech
sectors. Another board meeting is planned before summer break to advance
organizational questions and settle on a name for the new company.
