Saludos desde Vieques,

Yesterday we saw the first ships of the joint NATO/US off our Southern Coast.  The cry went out just after mid day from Esperanza, the village there.  Yesterday afternoon we had a car caravan that went through all the barrios of Vieques.  Last night we had a vigil at our Peace and Justice Camp in front of the main gate of Camp Garcia, the Navy firing range. Tonight we have another vigil.  This Sunday we will have another human chain with the help of our brothers and sisters from the main island.

Last week in preparation for all of this the US Navy started giving away appliances.  Refrigerators, stoves and washing machines.  They gave them to folks that did not appear in any of the many pictures the Navy has taken of our demonstrations.
