Austrian state sues over Temelin

Upper Austria announced it would sue CEZ to stop Temelin from going back on line. Jozef Puehringer, governor of the Austrian state that borders on the Czech Republic's Bohemia region where the VVER-1000 plant is located, told a press conference in the state capital Linz that Upper Austria wants to influence Temelin operators to bring the plant to an "internationally recognized technical standard." His province will coordinate the lawsuit, which claims potential damage to Upper Austrian property from an accident at Temelin, along with other Austrian provinces, in particular Salzburg, he said. Temelin-1 is down for turbine repairs that are expected to last at least to July 21.
