KFOR denies knowledge of high radiation levels in Kosovo

PRISTINA, Friday - KFOR has banned its troops from buying local produce due to secret fears of high radiation levels after last year's bombing, a Russian news agency has claimed. Citing well-informed Russian military sources in Kosovo, RIA Novosti states that German experts working in several areas of Kosovo detected a high level of depleted uranium radiation caused by last year's bombardment of Yugoslavia. The US airforce dropped 31,000 depleted uranium bombs on Kosovo, the agency states.

However, KFOR denied it had banned its soldiers from buying Kosovo produce, and added it had no knowledge of increased radiation levels there.
