Description
This position is based at a U.S. military installation in the Aviano, Italy. In this position you will provide early intervention services to American military families and their children with special needs. Description- Provide evaluation, consultation and direct psychological services to infants and toddlers birth to three with disabilities and significant behavioral disorders and their families and to children 3-21 who are receiving special education services in DoD schools. Significant behavioral disorders may include attachment, feeding and sleeping disorders. Provide consultation to other EDIS team members and the CSCs regarding behavior modification and other strategies for intervention with specific children. Provide second opinion and consultation services for evaluation and treatment planning of referred children with complex or atypical cognitive or socio-emotional development. For families with children 0-3: participate with the EDIS team and family to develop an appropriate Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP). Ensure the mental health goals reflect the concerns and priorities of the family. Provide direct services addressing behavioral issues to children with disabilities and their families as described on IFSP. For children 3-21 participate with the Child Study Committee (CSC) team to develop an appropriate individualized Education Plan (IEP) addressing the behavioral and mental health needs of the child. Provide services addressing these issues through direct, or indirect services, consultation, home-based treatment plans or monitoring services. Consult and provide technical assistance to the staff of Child Development Services and DoDDS regarding behavioral and socio-emotional issues of children birth to 21 who are receiving services from EDIS in accordance with IDEA. Provide service coordination for assigned families and act as a liason to school-based or other community-based service delivery programs. Education: Doctorate degree in psychology from an American Psychological Association (APA) approved program with successful completion of a fellowship in clinical child psychology.
 
Requirements
Unrestricted license in one of the 50 states or territories of the United States. Minimum of two years experience providing family centered services to a population of young children with disabilities and their families, including diagnosis and treatment of sleeping, feeding attachment, and other behavior disorders using behavior management and other techniques. Certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) or Pediatric Cardiopulmonar Resuscitation (CPR) You must have a U.S. drivers license. Desired Skills: International experience and a familiarity with issues facing the military family. Three year assignment. SAIC provides relocation. You must have a driver's license and a car.
