Biographies

Adm. Daniel J. Murphy, 78, is former Chief of Staff of Vice President George Bush (and later a key Advisor to President Bush), former Deputy Director of the Central Intelligence Agency, former Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Policy, and former Director of Antisubmarine Warfare and Ocean Surveillance Programs.  He was Commander of the Sixth Fleet during the Arab-Israeli War, and earlier commanded the aircraft carrier USS Bennington.  He was Military Assistant to Secretaries of Defense Melvin Laird and Elliot Richardson.

Adm. Bruce DeMars, 65, is former Director of the U.S. Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program (the “Nuclear Navy”), where he was responsible for the U.S. fleet of over 150 nuclear submarines and ships.  He directed the Navy’s transition to the post-Cold War period, and worked as Deputy Assistant Secretary of Energy to facilitate safe disposition of the Navy’s highly-enriched spent nuclear fuel.  He was Commander of the nuclear submarine, USS Cavalla.

Gen. P.X. Kelley, 71, is the former Commandant of the U.S. Marine Corps and member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.  Highly decorated during his 37-year military career, he remains the youngest Marine ever promoted to the rank of General.  In 1979 he was appointed by the President as the first Commander of the Rapid Deployment Joint Task Force, which became the U.S. Central Command.  He is currently a Partner with J.F. Lehman & Company, an investment firm in New York and Washington D.C., and serves as a Director of several  corporations and public interest groups.

Mr. William von Raab, 58, is a former Commissioner of U.S. Customs.  During the Nixon and Ford Administrations, he held senior positions at the Federal Energy Administration, Commerce Department, and the Executive Office of the President.

Mr. Joseph R. Egan, 45, is a Washington D.C. attorney and nuclear engineer who has handled some of the highest profile nuclear matters in the world in recent years.  His firm Egan & Associates, P.C. represented more than a dozen countries in their successful efforts to return highly-enriched spent nuclear fuel to the United States.  He holds degrees in physics, nuclear engineering, and technology & policy from MIT, and a law degree from Columbia University.

Hon. William H. Webster, 76, is former Director of the Central Intelligence Agency, former Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and a former federal judge.  He played a pivotal role in U.S. affairs during the final years of the Cold War and its end.  He is currently a partner in the law firm of Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy in Washington D.C.

Dr. Thomas B. Cochran, 59, is Nuclear Program Director for the Natural Resources Defense Council in Washington, D.C., and principal author of the internationally acclaimed multi-volume Nuclear Weapons Databook.  Dr. Cochran has been one of the nation’s leading arms control and environmental proponents, and was credited by Scientific American as being one of the key scientists who helped end the Cold War.  He holds a Doctorate in nuclear physics, and is an expert on the nuclear weapons production complexes in both the U.S. and Russia.  The Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) is an environmental public interest group with over 400,000 members.

Mr. William E. Bridegum, 64, is a businessman and longtime humanitarian service devotee.  A retired police Lieutenant, he directed an Investigative Unit in the District of Columbia.  A Mason since 1961, Mr. Bridegum is currently a Scottish Rite Mason whose foundation supports the Scottish Rite Center for Childhood Language Disorders, and a Shriner whose organization operates 19 orthopaedic hospitals and 3 burn institutes.  All are humanitarian service organizations providing treatment for needy children free of charge.  The Shriners service over 24,000 children per year, including some Russians.  Mr. Bridegum is a former Recorder (head of business operations) for the District of Columbia Shriners.  He is currently a real estate professional in the Washington D.C.area.
