ROME, November 14 (Tanjug)  Most of the 42 areas of Kosovo and Metohija on which shells with depleted uranium were dropped during the NATO aggression on Yugoslavia are in the zone between Pec and Djakovica, Deputy Italian Ecology Minister Valerio Calzolaio said on Monday.

 Quoting initial findings by a mission of the United Nations environmental protection agency, Calzolaio said half of the shells with depleted uranium had been dropped on the zone which is currently within the mandate of the Italian contingent of the international force KFOR, and that zones controlled by KFOR German troops have been affected, and that there is also a risk in Serbia proper.

 Of the total 31,500 fired shells with depleted uranium, 14,180 fell in the zone now controlled by KFOR Italian troops, Calzolaio said.
