CHINA TODAY questioned the US-led Nato's double standards on the question of 'humanitarian' concerns and criticised its stand on the use of depleted uranium (DU) ammunitions in Yugoslavia as well as in Iraq.

"It is both hypocritical and bizzare that the whole fuss over DU-related health risks in Nato countries has occurred without regard for the larger number of victims in other communities," the official China Daily said.

"Where are the 'humanitarian' concerns Nato so fervently cited to justify its aggression in Yugoslaiva?" it asked.

"Where is the altruist Nato committed to the prevention of a 'humanitarian disaster' now that a real such disaster is before its eyes," the paper asked while pointing out the case of Iraq where 250,000 civilians are reportedly suffering from effects of DU ammunitions used by Nato.
