MEMBERS and supporters of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) intercepted a Nato military convoy in the town of Sindos in Thessaloniki, northern Greece, last night, claiming that KFOR peacekeeping forces passing through Greek territory are not being checked for dust contaminated with radioactive elements.

Demonstrators told police they would let the convoy through only if scientists were summoned to collect samples of dust from the surface of the tanks and these were examined for possible radioactive contamination.

The incident occurred near a camp where Nato forces are provided shelter. (ANA)
