Oslo, January 9 (Tanjug-AP) - Norwegian soldiers refused today to sign contracts on serving within the peacekeeping international forces in Yugoslavia, demanding an explanation about the risks of the depleted uranium-tipped ammunition, TV station TV-2 reported.

About 400 soldiers from the elite Telemark battalion were supposed to sign contracts tomorrow on serving military service, which should start in June, after Norway took the control over KFOR forces in Kosovo. Last week, two former Norwegian soldiers were reported to have come down with cancer, after having been deployed in Bosnia.

About 7,500 Norwegian soldiers served within the international forces in the Balkans.

The Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs offered last night to all members of their stuff deployed in the Balkans during 1990's health checks, as the Army had done.

At the same time, the Swedish armed forces confirmed today that the soldiers who served in Bosnia and in Kosovo would undergo medical checks.
